A National Priority
A National Priority
by Mary Matthiesen
At a time when end of life care is receiving national priority in many countries, most recently the National End of Life Strategy in the U.K., there is great interest in public awareness and engagement. Statistics and experience show we simply don’t know what we need to know until it’s too late. Too many of us have stories to tell.
Raising just this awareness is my passion – not just for the dying, but for those of us who live, and will be living with the impact of the choices and care available for those we care for. I’ve recently been interviewed for E-patients (see link) which helps to clarify very personally why I care so much and some of where I hope this conversation can lead us. Thank you for your contined interest, work and support individually and collectively to bring this much needed issue ‘out of the closet’. We look forward to updating you as to progress for our community-based initiatives in the coming months.
